Business Major Scholarship End Date February 2010 at Jacksonville University
The 2010-2011 Bert L. Thomas Scholarship is named after a World War II vet who served in the Quartermaster Corps as Executive Officer under future Winn-Dixie founder, James E Davis. After the war he was hired by JE Davis and eventually became President of Winn-Dixie Stores in 1965. At the time of his death in 1982, he was head of Florida’s largest company. He was a member of the JU Board of Trustees for 13 years, serving as treasurer and chairman of the finance committee. Following the values of Bert Thomas, the recipient of this scholarship should be a Business major who has worked to pay a portion of his or her college expenses. The scholarship has a value of at least $1,500.
Eligibility:
1. You must be pursuing a major in the College of Business.
2. You must be a sophomore or junior at the time of application.
3. You must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
4. You must have worked to help pay your tuition, demonstrate leadership, and show potential for success in the business world.
