Scholarship 2009/2010 for the MA Culture, Policy and Management

Department of Cultural Policy and Management Bursary Scheme 2009/10

City University has a reputation for supporting new generations of cultural leaders. Its MA Culture, Policy and Management strives to encourage enlightened management of cultural operations by educating professionals with the vision and drive to make a difference in their area of work and support the long term leadership needs of the cultural sector. Ensuring diversity of opinion and aspiration across the student intake is key to engendering approaches which probe and expand definitions of successful management in the industry.

With this in mind, City University is offering two bursaries to people who can demonstrate their commitment to and vision for the future of the sector.

One will be awarded to a student with home fee status and the other to a student with overseas fee status, as follows:

UK/EU Bursary

The bursary of £4,850 will be used to pay the full fee for the MA Culture, Policy and Management, either full time over one year or part time over two years.

Overseas Bursary

The bursary of £5,400 will be used to pay 50 per cent of the full-time fee for the MA Culture, Policy and Management, reducing it from £10,800 to £5,400.
Bursary criteria and how to apply

To be considered for the scholarship, you must:

* hold either a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on the MA in Culture, Policy and Management
* submit a statement of no more than 500 words which makes the case for you to be awarded a bursary. This statement should not replicate the personal statement made on your course application form.

In each case, we will be seeking an individual who demonstrates previous commitment to and involvement in the cultural sector and has a vision for the future of the sector. The successful candidate’s statement of support will demonstrate their career aspirations and how the programme would help them to meet these and to make a difference in the industry.

The closing date for bursary applications is Friday 1 May 2009.
