10 PhD Scholarship 2009-2010 in Biotechnology and Reproductive Medicine
The Vrije Universiteit Brussel offers the possibility to get a PhD in 6 focused excellent research units.
Cancer research (2 scholarships)

This is an ideal context for Chinese students to start doing research and to finish their first important step in their career by getting a PhD in Brussels.
(1) Candidates will submit their applications to VUB (in English) and and to CSC (in Chinese), using the online forms of VUB and of CSC. Each applicant must complete both forms.
DEADLINE FEBRUARY 20, 2009
FOR THE VUB APPLICATION FORM:
A) go to http://vub.checkboxonline.com/csc.aspx
B) register
C) wait for the email notifying you that you have been registered
D) go to the link that has been emailed to you
E) complete the online form. There are many mandatory questions: you cannot submit the form without answering these answers.
F) whenever you want, you can save the contents in the incomplete online form, by clicking the button “Saving your responses so far”. Then enter your login, pasword and email address and click “save now”. An email will be sent to you with the link you need to retrieve your stored information. Whenever you want, you can go back to the saved information, and continue filling in the survey. You will need your login and password again.
G) When all questions are completed, click “LAST”. Then you will see the final screen asking to SUBMIT all information. CLICK on the SUBMIT button to send all information to VUB and CSC.
H) You will receive a confirmation mail. Please read this mail very attentive and do what is asked for;
I) you still have to send these copies to the VUB:
* A certified copy of the Master diploma together with a list of subjects and the results of the Master programme;
* A translation of the text on the diploma, if this diploma is in Chinese
* A copy of your TOEFL certificate or similar
* A copy of other tests and language tests certificates (if available)
You can send these, with an introductory letter, as pdf-file not exceeding 5 MB, to csc@vub.ac.be
(Mr. Filip Callewaert). At least two recommendation letters by two academics, should be sent by the authors of these letters themselves (! not by the candidate) to csc@vub.ac.be .
Candidates must complete an online application form and submit a completed employer reference form to CSC. These forms are available at http://apply.csc.edu.cn.
One copy of the signed CSC application form plus the completed employer reference form must be posted to CSC before the application deadline (March 10, 2009).
Candidates must also post to CSC before the application deadline one copy of all the application documents submitted to VUB.
(2) Applications will be considered by the faculties and departments of VUB and initial offers of admission will be made to candidates who have met the scheme’s conditions of eligibility and who have been offered a place to do research at VUB.
(3) March 10 2009: VUB will send CSC its recommendation for the initially selected candidates.
(4) CSC will do further shortlisting and select the final candidates.
(5) END March 2009: VUB will confirm the final candidates with CSC.
Starting from SEPTEMBER 2009, the selected will start their fruitful research career at the VUB.
