Clendenin Graduate Fellows Application Agreement (Doctoral Degree)
Eligibility Requirements
1. Applicant must be entering and remain in good standing in a full time doctoral degree program of an accredited educational institution.
2. Applicant must have a thesis advisor and advisory committee (if appropriate to the institution)
3. Applicant must have a thesis research plan approved by the student’s institution or department
4. ABD-Doctoral students who have completed their course work, (all but dissertation) will be considered.
5. Kennesaw State University faculty who need to complete their degree will be given preference
6. Applicants who have completed some or all previous undergraduate and or graduate coursework at Kennesaw State University will be given preference
7. Students in all disciplines of study will be considered
8. Financial need will be taken into consideration by the Scholarship Committee
9. Fellowships will be awarded annually for a maximum of three years (two semesters per year)
Application Instructions
1. All sections of the application packet must be fully completed and signed as directed.
> Section 1 General Information (to be completed and signed by the applicant)
> Section II Institutional Endorsement (to be completed and signed by the dean of the college
or the department head responsible for the applicant’s academic program).
> Section III, Essay, (to be typed and signed by the applicant).
2. Current resume/vitae must be included in the application packet (include all honors, awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer service, and work experience (list employer for both part-time and full-time jobs).
3. Essay and three letters of recommendation by previous professors, program chairs, departmental chairs, or deans in their degree program must be included with the application.
4. All information in the application packet (other than signatures) must be typed.
5. Application packets must include official transcripts of ALL undergraduate and graduate course work to date, and include the most recent semester. Incomplete application packets will not be processed.
6. A fully completed application packet, and ALL academic transcripts,
must be mailed to the Office of

Evaluation and Award Process
1. Fellowships awards will be up to a maximum of $15,000 per year
2. Need shall not be a factor in granting Fellowships
3. Selected applicants will be notified of the Clendenin Graduate Fellows Selection Committee’s decision in writing by (date) June 1, 2009
4. Selected applicants must provide proof of enrollment in a full time doctoral degree program for the 2009/2010 academic year before a check will be credited to their college/university account, and is expected to remain enrolled as a full time student in a doctoral degree program. Any overage of funds in the account will be credited to the student for other educational and living expenses.
