Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds Get Married

Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson and Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds inconspicuously tied the knot this weekend in the groom’s hometown of Vancouver, B.C.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds took their relationship to the next level this past weekend, called some close friends and their families and became husband and wife during a very discrete ceremony at a resort outside Vancouver, British Columbia.

Johansson, 23, and Reynolds, 31, started dating last year and have been extremely discreet about their relationships. No public outings together, no splashy appearances at events, no gushing to the media.

Not only did they not gush to the media, they hardly said anything about their relationship. Johansson told the Associated Press last month that she and her fiancé - they had become engaged in spring – were “just enjoying our time.”

Publicist Meredith O’Sullivan confirmed the reports Monday to several media outlets, without offering further details that could quench the public’s curiosity.

This is the first marriage for both actors.

Reynolds was previously engaged to Canadian singer Alanis Morissette. Their 5-year relationship ended in early February 2007. Alanis Morissette has since expressed her appreciation for Reynolds in interviews, wishing him and his new love the best of luck.

Johansson was previously linked with Justin Timberlake and Josh Hartnett, among other celebrities, but she has always been tight lipped about her personal life.

The child actor rose to fame in 1998, when she starred in the Robert Redford-directed drama “The Horse Whisperer.” She has meanwhile successfully made the transition to being viewed as a professional actress, having appeared in such critically acclaimed films as “Lost in Translation,” “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” or “A Love Song for Bobby Long.”

Her recent projects include starring in “The Other Boleyn Girl,” alongside Natalie Portman, and in the Woody Allen directed film “Vicky Christina Barcelona” (her third collaboration with the veteran filmmaker, after “Match Point” and “Scoop”) and releasing her first studio album, “Anywhere I Lay My Head,” which has generated interesting reactions among music critics.
